Archive for Rogue River Outfitters Wine Tour 2010
If you have been Rogue River Outfitters Latest blogs you have noticed the Southern Oregon Wine Blog has been adding its recommendations to the Salmon Recipes we have been posting. If you haven’t had a chance to try one of Christine pairings, they have been right on the money. The recommended wines with the Chinook Salmon have been terrific. In the next few weeks we will be moving into some Trout recipes and I cant wait to see what she will be coming up with.
The great weather in Oregon, the last few days, has made us anxious to get over to the Deschutes to go after the Great Redside. But since the introduction of the Wine Tour Raft Trip was announced, planning for this event has taken our minds down south to the Rogue River. Our rafting season is also about to begin, only 6 short weeks until we will be loading the Rafts and heading to Argo for our first trip of the year.
We introduced the Wine Tour Date and the first evening schedule, outlining how camping along the Rogue River with the food and wine pairing is going to make a great combination. The next evening on the Rogue should also for a great experience.
After rafting through some of the most spectacular parts of the Rogue, visiting Zane Grey’s Cabin and the famous Mule Creek Canyon Swim, day two on the Rogue will not easily be forgotten. But as the day starts to wind down we will be spending the evening at Paradise Lodge. Christine will again offer an appetizer paired with Southern Oregon wines. Next, dinner will be served by the chefs of Paradise, featuring pork loin and chicken entrees, and wines chosen to compliment the menu.
A spectacular day of rafting, swimming and sight seeing will come to a close, but not before one final experience. After dinner, we move to the deck of Paradise, reflect on our days adventures and gaze upon the mighty Rogue River as we enjoy a decadent dark chocolate cake and another fine glass of wine from Southern Oregon. Some might be heard yelling “Encore” in hopes it will never end. 🙂
Give us a call or book online , this is our first Rogue Wine Tour, but sure to become an annual event. Limited space is available.
In preparing for our Rogue River Outfitters Wine Tour, we had this goal in mind: Make it special, Make it stand out from the rest. With that in mind, we knew we had to meet these objectives….
- Find a qualified wine team to go with us. Someone who could hand pick wines to be perfectly paired with our unique menu and share their knowledge about these wines.
- We wanted Southern Oregon wines to represent the bounty and richness of this beautiful region.
- Lastly, bring two stand alone unique experiences, a wine tour and the Rogue River float trip, together for a perfect union of senses and beauty.
When we found Christine and Chris from the Southern Oregon Wine Blog, we knew we had met our first objective. And after reviewing our menu and schedule, they were excited to pair all of the wines for the trip with Southern Oregon Wineries. Objective two complete.
The last objective was the most challenging. Other rafting companies do “theme” trips. We wanted something unique, different and memorable and we captured all three in our first night. Our camp is set on the banks of the majestic Rogue River. Our evening will start with appetizers and our first samplings of wine. As we sit down to reflect about the day’s experience, Tina’s world famous salad will be served with another perfectly paired wine. The evening’s main event is the Surf and Turf, cooked over our open camp stove and served with two of the best wines of Southern Oregon. The evening wraps up with an elegant dessert and yet again, an amazing wine. The perfect dinner, the perfect wine and the perfect setting, a.k.a. Priceless!! 🙂
