This is the August 4-6, 2012 Group. These ladies worked in Alaska together, now every 2 years come back and spend time with us on the Rogue River.

The Steve Malany family had a great time rafting the Rogue River last week. They hit great weather in the high 90′s and evening time around 62, and they can’t wait to come back!

Its here… The first day of summer has arrived and did not disappoint throughout Oregon!

With a 85 Degree Temp. this day was absolutely beautiful.  This weather makes us ready and excited to start our Rogue Rafting season.  In just a few days the Rogue River Outfitters Crew will begin its 2012 season.

One of our clients called after his family’s rafting trip. He, his wife and 2 teenage kids bravely rafted the Rogue River for the first time last week. After 3 days of water fights galore, hiking and the wonderful wild and scenic canyon views (reportedly no less than 9 bears were seen)!

They reported it was the best family vacation they had ever taken. “We had no idea there were places left like this in the world!”

July 24, 2011 – Southern Oregon – Twenty-two bottles of southern Oregon wine floated the Wild and Scenic portion of the Rogue River this July 20th-22nd. Only empties returned thanks to the guests attending the first annual Rogue River Rafting & Wine Tour hosted by Rogue River Outfitters.

Guests enjoyed two nights and three days on the river paddling by day and sipping local wines by night. Rogue River Outfitters approached Christine Collier and Chris Jiron of The Southern Oregon Wine Blog and God King Slave Wines to select and present the wines to pair with the evening meals. The wines selected for the trip included Troon Vineyard “The River Guide” Dry Riesling, Quady North Cabernet Franc, Del Rio Vineyards Viognier, Folin Cellars Tempranillo, Abacela Port, and the inaugural release of Collier & Jiron’s very own God King Slave Syrah and Tempranillo blend.

“We felt these wines and producers best exemplify the wines of our region and we were so excited to share them with such eager wine enthusiasts. It was an incredible collaboration to enjoy the scenery and adventure of the iconic Rogue River with the wines that are produced in this valley,” Jiron states.

“The scenery was beautiful, the wildlife was exciting, the river was thrilling, the food was exceptional, the lodging was comfortable, but the best part was the people, including the guides. We came together and are taking away lifelong memories. Wine has always been such an important tool in bringing people together and building lifelong friendships and this trip was no different,” Collier recaps. “I hope we continue this trip for years to come and are able to share our regional wines in such a unique way.”

Rogue River Outfitters is a second generation family-owned and operated guide and outfitter service. Craig and Tina Hughson truly believe the Rogue River is one of those beautiful world famous rivers that everyone needs to see and experience. They are one of few outfitters on the Rogue providing both rafting and fishing excursions.

Tomorrow is our first day on the Rogue River this season.  Weather report looks great, 80-90′s through the day and clear. Finally we will be able to recharge those Oregon “beyond drained” batteries!

It looks like summer may have arrived at least down here in southern Oregon.  We are expecting good weather throughout next week so the Rogue River summer rafting fun is about to begin.

Update on the season, it looks like the water levels are going to be great all season.  Usually the August levels can start to drop off come mid month but we believe rafting the Rogue all through Aug. should be outstanding.

The lake isn’t full yet with still 2 1/2  feet below what it could hold. Give us a good string of 90 degree days and it will fill the lake for sure. This will cause a higher release of water into the Rogue River and likely continue into late summer.

In the next few weeks the water being released will likely increase by a couple hundred CFS. Having more volume in the river will also make for a faster ride for rafters, increasing the fun well into late Aug.

Now noted as the “Top river rafting trips in the West” by sunset magazine a Rogue River Rafting Trip should be on your summer schedule for 2011.  Bring the family and or a group of your friends and lets raft the Rogue River.
